The Urban and Development Resource Centre (UDRC) is a non-profit organisation that for over 20 years has worked in two of India’s eastern States (Odisha and West Bengal) alongside grassroots organisations of Mahila Milan (Women’s savings collective) and the Slum Dwellers Federation.
    UDRC focuses on empowering women, children and youth in informal settlements, to stop forced evictions and improve access to land, sanitation, water, electricity, housing, finance and livelihoods.

    WHERE WE WORK

    The Odisha Alliance is active in 225 settlements in five cities: Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Paradeep and Rourkela. There are about 9,000 members in 184 settlements under the fold of Odisha Mahila Milan and Odisha Slum Dwellers Federation, indirectly serving at least five times that many households through their work. Likewise, the West Bengal Slum Dwellers Federation is active in about 20 settlements with about 2000 members, working in Kolkata & Kona cities/towns of West Bengal.
